(Parents must be available to drive their child to the pool, as we do not offer transportation. For children under 16, parents must also be present at the pool for each session due to liability. They do not need to be in the pool, just present for the duration).
The PADI Rescue Diver course teaches you techniques to avoid and manage problems and improve your confidence as a diver. During the course you’ll become a better buddy by enhancing your ability to identify potential problems and by practicing dive emergency protocol. The subject is serious but the training is fun – many divers tell us the PADI Rescue Diver course was their favourite!

How does it work?
After enrolling, you’ll learn essential safety and problem solving concepts through videos, audio, graphics and reading. Progress through the material at your own pace using a desktop, laptop or mobile device. Quizzes help you evaluate your progress and identify sections you may need to review.
What does it cover?
The PADI Rescue Diver course covers minor dive problems and major dive emergencies and a variety of techniques to deal with and avoid each. Topics include: The Psychology of Rescue, Recognizing Diver Stress, Accident Management, and Responding to Diver emergencies, Equipment Problems, and more.
What else is required to complete the course?
You’ll practice your knowledge and skills during in water rescue scenarios in open water. Exercises include: self-rescue; panicked diver; response from shore, boat or dock; distressed diver; first aid and oxygen administration; and more. Open Water dives will be scheduled with Oakville Divers during the spring, summer and fall.
Course Prerequisites
Advanced Diver; First Aid Primary and Secondary Care training (or qualifying training) within 24 months

- includes PADI e-Learning code to access online theory
- 3 Pool Sessions with your PADI Rescue Diver Instructor
- Rescue Open Water Training dives (to be scheduled in the Summer)
- Scuba equipment rentals are NOT included in the course cost
- Access to our pool practice sessions (equipment included) any Tuesday or Sunday evening, all year long (advanced registration required + extra charge)
